I’M GOING TO GET MYSELF SOME SUN
All these long Chicago winters make me want to pack up and go
Waiting for the bus freezing shoulder deep in snow
Someday I’m going to earn myself a little vacation spot
Because the mighty Chicago hawk just doesn’t want to seem to stop
Well maybe it’s written the cold wind and all the rain and hail
That I’m doomed to spend the rest of my life peaked and pail
But someday................I’m going to get myself some sun
Someway.....................I’m going to get myself some sun
Have you ever had the feeling when you get down in a rut
To quit your job on a sunny day, find some rays and soak them up
I’m going to find myself an island somewhere in the South Sea
Spend all day on the beach and let that sun just cook me
Cause I’ve tried pancake makeup and tanning beds but I can’t win
I just can’t seem to get a tan because the sun will only bleach my skin
Yes someday................I’m going to get myself some sun
Someway.....................I’m going to get myself some sun
Then be done with all my business way up in the States
And make a date with my lady to bake and bake and bake
Lying by the ocean making angels in the sand
I won’t even tell the IRS where I am
Mix myself a Scotch, and throw away my watch
Soak up all the rays I can……….and get myself a Coppertone tan
