Well this old
car just keeps on going
As the highway flashes by
And my life seems kind of empty
When my “well of hope” runs dry
My health is bad and my girlfriend’s sad
Because I'm living out on this road
But I've worked so hard for what little I’ve got
…… I'm never going to let it go
I really
don’t have too much to speak of
In fact I am my own best friend
And every time I get a bargain
I get the shortest end
I have paid my dues so many times
The miles on my face begin to show
But I’ve worked so hard for what I’ve got
………..I’m never going to let it go
I don’t have time for reality
My mind is off in a foreign land
And the only fun I ever get to have
Is playing in my rock and roll band
Sometimes it just isn’t fair
When the man won’t give me my pay
I guess the only time I feel I'm really getting somewhere
Is when I step up on the stage
Now I did all this long before the world wide web
And computers running cars
been up all night and I'm finally getting it right
Although I may be a little bit slow
I’ve worked so hard for what I got
I can’t afford to let it go
