THE CIRCUS

I’ve been traveling in the sideshow all of my life

Kept my thoughts to myself there’s not much I haven’t tried

Now I wonder where the time has all gone

I guess I’ve just been in this circus too long

………….I want to go home

I’m tired of the lights and the midway crowds

It’s not worth the little peace that I’ve found

When it stops being fun then there’s no need to keep on

I guess I’ve been the circus too long

………….I want to go home

Lions & tigers pacing in their cage

I catch them dreaming of the better days

Wish I could send them back to where they belong

Their eyes say they’ve been in the circus too long

…………They want to go home

But it gets in your blood and it won’t come out

You know the circus I’m talking about

If I could leave then I would have surely gone

But now I’ve been in the circus too long.
