Sitting here thinking…………

It’s been a long time since I had a dime in my pocket

I’m financially embarrassed and I can’t stop it

The harder I try the deeper I get stuck

I need that “jingle jangle” to pick me up

Chump change won’t get you through

I’m telling you if you play the game don’t be a fool

The guy with the gold makes the rules today

The man with the money gets to roll the dice

I know when I’m licked and I’m not going to fight

Because the man with the money’s always right

The guy with the gold is going to run your life

Ready or not he calls the shots

So I called the finance company to try to get myself a little loan

They wanted to take a look at what I own

But I explained I have nothing to my name

They said it doesn’t make any sense because you can’t afford to pay, anyway

I want to be rich as long as I’ve been poor

I hate to bitch but the bills are piled up on the floor

I’ve got everything except what money can buy

And it would be nice to see that eagle finally fly
